The design brief called for a multi coloured precast panel facade, achieved with the addition of coloured oxide in the concrete mix. The resulting finish is a life long durable coloured surface which upon closer inspection reflects the colour variability of concrete, a feature unique to concrete and is a point of difference from a painted finish. The oxide coloured concrete is a thin 50mm veneer layer cast into the underlying 150mm thick structure panel, for cost effectiveness and allows multiple colours on one panel.
