Waikeria Prison due for completion in 2021 for Department of Corrections, was designed by Mode architects and Robert Bird Group Engineers, with head contractor CPB Contractors. For efficiency of construction a modular approach was taken with the precast concrete cells pre-fabricated in the Concretec factory and delivered as either single or double cells. These were design to be "stacked" on site to create a two level structure.
